Magic Roster 2010

What do u think of this trade?
Knicks Receive:
Rashard Lewis, Adonal Foyle, Marcin Gortat, JJ Redick, Anthony Johnson, Matt Barnes
Magic Receive:
Jordan Hill, Larry Hughes, Eddy Curry, David Lee
I know from a talent perspective the Knicks get way more talent since Curry and Hughes are garbage players, but they do get to clear a lot of salary cap from this trade along with a decent role player out of Lee and a nice rookie. While the Knicks fills their roster up with a ton of talent for their run-and-gun offense with shooters like Lewis, Redick, Barnes, and Johnson. They also get a legit big man out of Gortat and a nice backup big. The Knicks have to gain some talent if they want to sign a big name out of the 2010 free agency, because big name players like Lebron, Bosh, etc. wouldn’t even consider NY if there is no supporting cast. So although they have to surrender some salary cap, it is worth it cause they get a star player out of Lewis and several effective role players.
I’m from New York and I’m a knicks fan. I was actually at the game against the Pacers last week. I think that it’s actually a good trade. The knicks have some decent guards, but their main necessity now is a big man. David Lee is good offensively and rebound-wise, but he can’t play defense for crap. I think Rashard Lewis is top 5 PF in the NBA, and Martin Gortat brings a lot of defensive power to a defensively weak team. I think JJ Redick could add a lot to the Knicks lineup, while Matt Barnes is also a generally complete player. As for the knicks loss, I dont think Jordan Hill is really going anywhere in his career. Larry Hughes is aging and doesn’t really play with passion. Eddy Curry is a lost cause, so David Lee would really be our only major loss, but the gains we would receive from the trade would definitely outnumber the losses. If the Knicks end up making this trade, I would be extremely happy.
