Maps Fantasy Worlds
Most of us at one time or another have seen realistic dioramas, relief maps or other representations of the scene in museums, nature centers, zoos and other public exhibitions. Techniques for making landscapes are also used in many popular pastime by countless millions of people. Model railroading, model building, building doll houses and school projects are some activities that can be enhanced with terrain modeling. This article will teach you how to make a diorama.
A diorama is a scene reproduced in miniature used to tell a story or create a print, and many people interested in building small scenes for display. A diorama can be a historical, scientific, fantasy or almost any stage of the desires amateurs.
Here's how to build your own diorama.
Deciding on a scale. This is essential as a diorama becomes credible insofar as it seems "real." If you've had a discussion (a Barbie doll, a plastic dinosaur in particular), use this scale. Otherwise, try 1 foot to 1 inch – is the norm for conventional and miniature dollhouses.
Collect your materials – human and Or animal figures, palm trees or sugar cubes to build an igloo, or doll house furniture and food for a miniature scene inside.
Decide on a background – you can paint or draw your own background or use or wrapping paper or anything else you can find. Remember though that background images should be compatible with the scale you have chosen.
Choose a container. School Projects Many children use cardboard boxes or shoe boxes, but you can use just about anything. It should be light but strong enough, especially if you move around the diorama.
Build your diorama work from the rear forward. Start with the background by creating a horizon and the sky / ceiling and floor / ground. Then place large objects such as trees. Smaller objects must be placed on or near the front. Use glue or putty to secure the objects.
