How can Bob and John make this Magic Trick work?
Bob and John are going to perform a magic trick for you. This trick
requires a Standard Deck of Cards with the Jokers removed. John is
in another room and cannot here or see what is going on. Bob tells
one of his gathered friends to pick 5 cards at random from the 52.
Jane picks the 5 cards and looks at them, and hands them back to
Bob. Bob then proceeds to give Jane One Card out of the 5.
Bob then places the remaining 4 cards on his table in a neat pile.
John is now summoned to come out of the other room, examine the
cards and tell Jane what card she is holding.
Very Important: The only communication between Bob and John is the
arrangement of the 4 cards. They do not use any hand signals, ESP,
or Marked cards. And No Clue in the way Bob arranged the pile of 4
cards.
Can you tell me? How can Bob and John make this Magic Trick work?
And tell Jane exactly what card she is holding.
This is kinda confusing:
1. The only communication between Bob and John is the
arrangement of the 4 cards
then you say,
2. And No Clue in the way Bob arranged the pile of 4
cards.
But here is my guess.
Suits: the 4 suits can be denoted by placing the pile face down/up and vertically/horizontally.
Numbers: The numbers can be denoted by placing the pile at the corresponding clock position, with the middle of the table being 13(King).
