Magic the Gathering cause. How do I determine my edition that some of my cards are from?
What I mean, I about 2500 cards that I bought in early 1990 (brand new as they came out) and I am trying to determine the insurance value on them. I never played most of them. I know the beta maps are much more valuable than later editions. So, How do I determine which edition are they? .. Thank you to you both for your answers …
I guess you just have to Unlimited / Revised date maps. Alpha and Beta are very similar. The only difference is that Alpha is slightly smaller than Beta format (SCSI). Beta will be the size of current cards (If you do not just compare to playing cards, they should be fairly close.) Aplha will be somewhat smaller. Unlimited and Revised are almost the same as the beta unless they are white, bordered. The difference between them is that Unlimited has a border "double". If you Look to the right border inside the white box you will see a "wedge" peak. The revised version has no "wedge" peak. Here is an example. Unlimited http://magiccards.info/un/en/109.html Revised: http://magiccards.info/rv/en/109.html Fourth Edition cards will be the same as revised, except it has a date of 1995 Copyright in the background. http://magiccards.info/4e/en/135.html If you want to know How many cards are worth, then I suggest: http://www.magictraders.com/ just put the card name in the "Search for a price guide" block and it will show an average of what cards are online. It searches all online sales, so you know how people buy cards online. Hope it helps.
