Fantasy Draft Tips

Most people who play fantasy football are familiar with the idea of a head-to-head league, your team of players going head-to-head against another team in the league this week, your team gets a victory a loss or tie, and then you move on to next week. The best record at the end of the regular season in each division made the playoffs, and so on. But you may not be aware that there is another interesting option there: Rotisserie leagues.

Here's how leagues work rotisserie. Each week, your players stats are accumulated in a variety of different statistical categories, and these statistics are added to your category totals grow throughout the year. top scorer in 12-team league at the end of the year in each category, such as yard ground, received 12 points and the second leading scorer gets 11 points, and so on. Then, receiving yards, the top scorer gets 12 points as rushing yards. The categories (yards, yards, Passing Touchdowns, and many others) are determined by the league commissioner at the beginning of the year and the winner of the League is the team owner who has accumulated the largest category final points at the end of the year.

Rotisserie Leagues vs. Head-to-Head Leagues

Is this scoring system seems strange? Rotisserie leagues are definitely a different way of thinking about football fantasy, but an analysis of differences may give you a real interest in this alternative. There are several things to consider.

  1. This situation is less a problem in a rotisserie league.
  2. However, in a Rotisserie league, owners will sometimes be quite advanced in a single category (eg Rushing yards), but rather a decrease in another (say, catch) want to sell their best players for good players from other categories.
  3. However, in a Rotisserie league, it just is not a problem: you play for Rotisserie in various categories throughout the year no head to head victories and no division.
  4. You could have the most categories Peyton already locked yourself at the end of the season rolls around.
  5. Instead of head-to-head leagues where the post-season starts in week 15 or week 16, most Rotisserie leagues give all owners the opportunity to play every week of the season, and it can become strained trying to forge these categories last points at the end of days.

Strategy

Rotisserie leagues are very different one week to another week. You're not playing against a certain opponent and you do not have much reason to trash-talking. But this does not mean there is a lot of strategy out. Here are some key points of strategy.

  • Get used to players trading more often. You will find yourself in some categories and in others and you need to play these imbalances throughout the season by trading for the categories you're weak.
  • Balance the grasshopper. Instead of taking several stud running backs and hoping that the rest of your head-to head the team can manage, you'll need more balance in a rotisserie league. It may not be as important to understand the uber back in a second round draft when you can balance your team with a top-tier TE or WR. balance of the team is essential in rotisserie leagues.
  • Overloading and unloading. Just as we finished talking equilibrium, if you had prepared to dominate a category, and now you're dominant in this category at week 4, you will have the chance to sell high and unload these studs and rebalance your team.

These are just some tips, but many strategies and Hints are available to owners of rotisserie league. If your league has agreed to lead the way Rotisserie, spend some serious time to learn to find classes and research on which players will dominate in each. And then take advantage of homeowners who have not picked up the variety of strategies available in rotisserie leagues.
