The Origin of Chinese Horoscopes were based on the legend, in the sixth century BC the Jade Emperor invited all animals to creation of a race, only twelve showed up: Rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, lamb, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and pigs, and depending on their place in the race, the Jade Emperor had given them each a number starting with the rat who was the winner of the race. Since the rat is the winner, the rat is the first symbol of the Chinese zodiac sign.

The twelve animals have become symbols of Chinese astrology and they symbolize each year to supplement the Chinese horoscopes every 12 years.
