Berkshire is a county in the interior of southern England on the south bank of the Thames, with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire in the North South Hampshire, Surrey in the south-east and west Wiltshire.
It is slightly irregular in shape with a length of 43 miles from east to west and 30 miles from north to south and covering an area of approximately 462,210 hectares.
The county has three parliamentary divisions, seven municipal districts and one hundred ninety-three parishes.
